Size guide
How to measure your foot
Measuring foot length properly matters more than most people expect, and it is easy to get wrong — usually by tilting the pencil while tracing, or by measuring the outline diagonally afterwards.
- Stand on a sheet of paper on a hard floor, with your weight on the foot you are measuring.
- Trace around the foot holding the pencil upright, at 90 degrees to the paper. A tilted pencil adds several millimetres.
- Measure the straight-line distance from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe — which is not always the big toe.
- Measure both feet and use the larger of the two.
A few things worth knowing
- Measure at the end of the day. Feet swell, and a shoe fitted in the morning can be tight by evening.
- Wear the socks or tights you would wear with the shoes.
- If your measurement falls between two sizes, take the larger one. Leather gives a little with wear; it does not shrink.
